Photographs seem to only appeal to your memory of the good times, and — duh, it’s a photo — appeal to aesthetics as the primary substance, over actual substance . Some cars look a lot better than they actually were. I have photos of older cars I still pull up and always say “I should have...” then I slap some sense into myself.
There’s an obvious analogy I could make here, but I can’t quite put my finger on it...
[the joke is like when you’re dating someone stunning but intolerable with the passage of time]

It’s the greatest mug I own and a likely reason why I’m still single.

Why yes, the car does remind me of the good times with my ex.
You’re right. Both are gone and not coming back. Which is good in the long run.

I made the mistake of keeping my Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec for a few months after I bought my M2C, and driving them back-to-back constantly saved me from having astounding flashbacks of the Genesis. There are good things about that car, don’t get me wrong, and I do miss it and the memories we made , but the M2C is twice the car it the Genesis could ever hope to be; I don’t think I’d realize this if I immediately sold it.
